PvP Pop
A suitable audio score is a useful yet understated tool that livens up tired senses for the task at hand. I have a soundtrack; music to murder by..., to to get me in the mood, but lately this song by the Minmatar Separatist group; Sigue Sigue Sputnik(Persistent, perpetual traveller), is monopolising my minds audio craving. The accompanying video shows the rebellion against the Empire and how, although outmatched in almost every way, the Minmatar were able to inflict heavy casualties upon the innocent Amarr populace using crude but no less effective weaponry.

Moon
Moon is a film about the exploitation of a life and the manipulation of the truth for the purposes of corporate profit. It's an incredibly well delivered film which explores morality versus capitalism. Sam Bell is a sole astronaut who care-takes a group of machines as they mine the moon for it's precious Helium3, used in nuclear fusion back home.
As his rotation of 3 years comes to a close, events unfold which force him to realise that everything is not as it seems, in fact things are very wrong and have been for a long time.
A brilliant film which makes one feel hopeless, just like the character on-screen due in no small part to Sam Rockwells' performance as the lonely astronaut, Kevin Spacey; the caring and soflty spoken GERTY, Duncan Jones; the director and the simple yet harrowing soundtrack by Clint Mansell from The Fountain and Requiem for a Dream fame.
The special effects in Moon surpass many films becasue they are there to form a narrative, instead of being the main attraction. Films such as Avatar rely almost entirely on the CGI to impress audiences, making for a visual feast without substance. In Moon, all the special effects are shot with minuatures instead of CGI, which lends the film a realistic yet dreamlike quality, which serves to portray the atmosphere and so the immense solitude.
Moon is one of those films that simply must be seen, it's so very rare to have an intelligent sci-fi film which doesn't contain aliens or ray-guns and centres it's crux around a character driven narrative. If you liked 2001: A Space Odyssey, then moon will not dissapoint.

Post-Cards from the Edge
Pause for a moment from the death and salvage, and witness the (old) beauty of the infinite void.
The music is from Ridley Scott's marvelous Tech-Noir; Bladerunner, which to this day remains as one of my all time greatest films. The soundtrack by Vangelis suits the movie perfectly, haunting the moods throughout the film to create something which stays with you permanently.
Truly a perfect example of great minds coming together to create something astoundingly original, despite Hollywoods expected inept medling of the final cut.

Brilliant Sunshine
Sunshine is one of those films that lingers with you for ages afterwards while your mind makes sense of the imagery and the raw power that exists within the heavens. Best seen on large screens; Danny Boyle's iconic sci-fi delivers on so many levels and is seen as one of the best sci-fi films of the last decade.
Some may say the ending is fuddled, but it still presents a great spectacle and has one of the best movie soundtracks featuring Underworld and John Murphy, whom also worked on 28 Days Later.

A Warm Welcome
I am pleased to announce a new contributor to this blog; my mentor and oldest friend EiD. Fourteen years ago he expedited my release from Sarum Prime as I was due to be court marshalled for my crimes against the Amarr Navy. His assistance sacrificed his own career within the Navy and we both sought new homes far from the Empire.He’s always been a great source of knowledge and an inspiration to me, a champion in his field of science and industry, there isn’t much he doesn’t know. He spends his days making millions on the galactic market selling his inventions, and occasionally tackles the odd level 4 in his nightmare with Mr NOXx. These missions cannot take long due to his busy schedule, and they don’t; mere seconds in-fact.
He is a very busy man and his services are constantly in demand so it’s with great honour that I welcome his input. I trust he will have plenty to say and that a new perspective will be welcomed.

...a music video by Permaband called HTFU. What's the relevance you may wonder? It's all about EvE Online and is performed by a talented bunch of CCP staff who formed the rap group.
This was the last thing I expected to see coming from CCP lately but if you feel a desire to chuckle at CCP, if only to realise they are human after all and not just buff-nerfing-algorithms then watch the video, it's class!

This video is a bit of a nostalgia trip for me as I was a huge fan of Tobias' animation work when I was a wee lad. The music by Bjorn Lynne is also very eighties, early nineties it reminds me of how fantastical our perception of spaceships were in those days. How the future was enveloped in artificial light and the heavens were full of huge, slow moving cities of glass and steel.
After playing EvE Online I now realise that the future is actually bleak. That it is dark, cold and full of insurmountable suffering and pain.

War Has Come To EvE Online
Another movie by KyokoSakoda. This time showing the build up to war for the Empyrean Age expansion. Again, well produced and plenty of action (not a bad soundtrack either). I tip my hat to you sir, keep up the good work.
